8/27-8/30/2023 A trip that combines business and opportunistic exploration. Italy for a long weekend? Sure.

Two days ago I got a message from a client - 'come to Florence to talk about the next steps'. When? 'As soon as possible'.

That's when having a bunch of miles comes in handy. Flexibility. A paid ticket on such short notice would have been pricey (but I'd still do it, because business first).

All that said, meetings would take one day at most. And I've never been to Florence. So I do a buffer day before and after, to explore.

Works out. And the next steps could change everything.

Another strobe light travel experience. It will stay with me for quite a while, aided by the slideshows on my screens. The fact that I can do what is essentially a long weekend in Italy from Oregon is a testament to how privileged we are to live here, now. Funny thing, in six days I go to Europe again. That is a whole other story.
