Day 7 - Vis, military tour

As has become customary, I go for a 4 am walk about town. It gives a very different perspective and is an immersive, peaceful experience.

I don't go all the way to the fortress, just some streets near the harbor. The ship leaves at 7 am. Our next destination is Vis, an island with much military history that was off-limits to foreigners until the late 1990's. Now it's a major tourist destination.

We tie up near shore for a swim and the dinghy ferries us in small groups to the 'submarine tunnel' - on the military tour tomorrow we will learn that no submarines were here, but it's a popular myth.

After swimming and further attempts to stand up on a paddle board, we head to the dock.

A cool cruise ship approaches and docks next to us. There are many ships here where the masts are purely decorative. This is a rare one that has actual sails. Whether or not they are ever used is another story, but at least they're there.

Tonight's dinner is traditional Croational lamb dish Peka. A bus takes us to the place (restaurant? winery?) up in the hills.

It is delicious. I consume more than my share of the lamb and the wine. I vaguely remember walking back to the bus and not much else. But, everyone still talks to me in the morning so all is good.
