2001 Westfield Megabusa

This car is powered by a Suzuki Hayabusa 1.3L motorcycle engine of 180hp. It uses the built-in 6-speed sequential gearbox and has an inline reversing box (yes, this gives it 6 reverse gears). The weight is 1,060 lbs with 6 gallons of fuel onboard. To say this car is fast is an understatement! The sound is incredible too - see video.

3/14/04 - I ran the car at PIR yesterday and made a helmetcam video that gives a better feel for what it's like :)

I am selling the car to make room in my garage and in my wallet for the full-custom dp1 track car I'm designing and building. My reason for buying the Westie was to get experience with building a kit and running a bike-engined car on the track and on the street. It took a little over 220 hours to build from a kit, over a period of around 9 months. The full story of Westie's build-up and use can be found at www.dpcars.net/westfld.htm (start with page 1 in upper right corner). I was originally thinking of doing my own bodywork for this car, but after realizing the amount of effort that would take I decided that I might as well do a whole car. Many of the lessons learned from the Westie have been applied to the dp1 design.

This Megabusa has pretty much all the performance options available from Westfield, and some extras on top.

- Limited Slip Differential

- Westfield dry sump

- Alloy uprights

- 4-pot front brakes, stainless brake lines front and rear

- Dual master cylinders with adjustable brake bias

- Double-wishbone suspesion front and rear with nylon bushings

- Wide track front suspension

- Nitron adjustable shocks and race springs (both damping and ride height are adjustable)

- Quick ratio steering rack

- Adjustable front and rear swaybars

- Custom braced rollbar (powdercoated)

- One-piece race seats, custom leather covered, with heater pads

- 6-point harness for both driver and passenger (far superior to the usual 4-point you find in sevens)

- Ultralight SSR competition wheels (under 10 lbs each!)

- Hoosier DOT race tires, 205/50-15 front and 225/45-15 rear (they work as runflats on this light car)

- Custom carbon/nomex rear cover (no trunk)

The car has covered 750 miles (2750 on engine) and is pretty much sorted, although it will require constant mantenance and tweaking due to its nature.

Please contact me if you're interested in purchasing this beast. I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have.
